Job Description

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

C4ISR Space Systems has an exciting opportunity to lead a strategic program developing payloads for the Space Development Agency (SDA). For SDA's Gamma program we will be rapidly providing 10 satellite payloads leveraging RF and space domain expertise across C4ISR. You will be starting at the ground floor on this tactical space payload program through design, build, integration, launch, and payload operations. This position also helps lead our other tactical space capture efforts, improve our business process, and develop our long-term business plan (e.g. future SDA tranches and other space agencies).

As a Space Systems program director you will provide leadership and management oversight of a BAE tactical satellite payload programs. You will assure the project's financials, schedule and technical objectives are met and that the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved. You will work closely with engineering and operations to efficiently build and deliver tactical space payloads. You will develop additional small satellite payload follow-on efforts with new and existing customers. Lastly, you will work across the business area and functional teams to execute and shape small satellite programs as part of BAE's Space Mission Programs group.

The basic functions of the job include:

  • Accountable for all aspects of assigned programs execution (cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, inventory management, and customer engagement) and ensuring program commitments are met, having the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to the project.
  • Acts as primary point of contact between BAE Systems and the customer program office, suppliers, and key customer stakeholders.
  • Responsible and accountable to the Product Line Management for program execution, profitability, timeliness, and overall success.
  • Makes decisions that are cost effective to the company and ensures assigned projects meet financial commitments for orders, sales, profit and cash flow.
  • Leads or participates in the creation of new business strategies and in the development of strategic and financial plans.

  • Top Secret clearance required.
  • Space hardware development and production experience.
  • History working with operations and engineering to improve production and decrease unit costs.
  • Strong customer focus and experience with relationship building, including ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) at all levels within the customer community.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of senior management regarding program performance status (cost / schedule / resources / risk) as well as performance to annual financial objectives.
  • Proficient with developing program/project plans specifying goals, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.
  • Proficient in the application of Earned Value Management System, Master Planning Techniques (IMP/IMS) and Subcontract Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop opportunities to increase the value of the project(s) under his/her purview, and to capture new projects; lead the development of capture plans/ and direct the development of preparation of proposals in response to various customer requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, motivate and lead teams, especially with members from multiple BAE Systems sites and/or cultures
  • Bachelors' degree in a relevant field

  • 5 years of demonstrated experience leading and inspiring diverse teams in a high tempo environment
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
