Job Title: Laboratory Director

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Director to lead our laboratory team. This is a part-time position, approximately 2 hours per week, with the possibility of remote work from Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, with occasional travel to our Barre, VT lab.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the laboratory is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards, including CLIA and 42 C.F.R.
  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and procedures to provide consistent, high-quality testing services.
  • Implement a quality system to approach laboratory services testing that provides accurate, reliable, and timely patient test results.
  • Ensure the laboratory is enrolled and participates in an HHS-approved proficiency testing program that meets the applicable criteria for the testing performed at the laboratory.
  • Ensure the laboratory's testing systems provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, including the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.
  • Ensure the laboratory's physical and environmental conditions are adequate and appropriate for the testing performed.
  • Ensure the laboratory's environment for personnel is safe from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
  • Ensure a general supervisor is available to provide day-to-day supervision of all testing personnel, report test results, and provide on-site supervision for specific minimally qualified testing personnel when they are performing high complexity testing.
  • Ensure the laboratory employs sufficient numbers of appropriately educated, experienced, and/or trained personnel who provide appropriate consultation, properly supervise, and accurately perform tests and report test results in accordance with the written duties and responsibilities specified by the Laboratory Director.
Qualifications:
  • Must be qualified to manage and direct the laboratory personnel and performance of high complexity tests and must be eligible to be an operator of a laboratory within the requirements of CLIA regulations, including 42 C.F.R.
  • Must possess a current license as a laboratory director issued by the State of Vermont.
  • Must have excellent complex problem-solving skills, demonstrated working knowledge and competency within a laboratory environment, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to provide quality services to meet the individual needs of customers, and demonstrated skills prioritizing and organizing workload.
  • Must have superb attention to detail, ability to follow processes and procedures from beginning to end within established timelines, and ability to handle discreet, confidential information.
  • Must be able to move throughout the agency independently or with minimal assistance, have sufficient visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and other text formats, and be able to work in a stressful, fast-paced, high-volume environment that requires direct contact with diverse staff, clients, and vendors.
Compensation:

The range of pay for this position is $54.36/hr - $85.86/hr based on years of experience.
