Job Summary

The Program Manager, Runway Program manages and oversees the daily operations of the Runway Program and provides operational oversite with responsibility for delivering results. This role supervises several part-time and student employees.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Runway Program, including the design and implementation of the overall program structure and processes.
  • Works with the Institute Assistant Director to establish operational goals and objectives that align with the overall strategic plan of the Daveler & Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship (DKSOE).
  • Assists with the development and execution of a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the goals and objectives of the DKSOE and the Institute.
  • Continuously evaluates program outcomes and gathers data and feedback for improvements.
  • Recruits and manages a network of mentors and advisors responsible for guiding participants and connecting them with local resources.
  • Works with the Entrepreneur-in-Residence to facilitate one-on-one coaching sessions and trains support staff to facilitate their own sessions.
  • Plans and organizes workshops, networking events, and pitch competitions.
  • Serves as the Lead Advisor for an entrepreneurship-related student organization.
  • Cultivates relationships with potential investors, partners, and the community to create value for the program.
  • Fosters strong connections between the program and other university departments to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Works with Institute Assistant Director to seek out new funding and sponsorship opportunities, while also ensuring existing funding.
  • Manages the allocation of program resources, including co-working spaces and funding for participants.
Other Duties:
  • Oversees marketing and promotion of the Runway Program to the campus community.
  • Serves on institutional committees representing the interests of the department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Entrepreneurship, or closely related field and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Work experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with start-ups and new ventures.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Entrepreneurship or closely related field.
  • Two years of professional full-time experience at a university entrepreneurship center.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of startup and entrepreneurial frameworks, including financial modeling, lean startup framework, and market analysis.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach aspiring entrepreneurs in refining their business ideas.
  • Ability to work with various emerging technologies, such as Generative AI.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present information in a meaningful manner.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including investors, faculty, and external partners.
