Job Summary
Participates in the development, execution, and operations of The Student Success Program, a component part of The Cleveland State University, College of Law (CSU|LAW) Student Opportunity and Success Program. Responsible for the development and execution of mentoring, programming related to leadership, communication, networking, academic advising and student belonging initiatives for students in The Student Success Program. Works closely with others in CSU|LAW to integrate the student experience from recruitment, admissions, enrollment, professional and academic success through law school, and post-graduation employment. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in preferably in human resources, counseling, management, communication, or related fields.
One (1) year of progressively responsible related work experience in student services, counseling, student advising, admissions, law practice, or similar fields.
Preferred Qualifications
J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school or master's degree in higher education administration
Three (3) years of progressively responsible related work experience in student services, counseling, student advising, admissions, career advising, law practice or similar fields. Prior university experience. Familiarity with the local legal community.
Prior experience with academic technology.
Experience in program planning, implementation, and assessment in the following areas, academic advising, career planning, admissions, academic assistance, or teaching.
Experience working with programs and services designed to enhance retention of students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change.
Ability to analyze and report on program metrics.
Ability to increase persistence, retention, and graduation rates.
Ability to creatively motivate, empower, and recognize students and work effectively with a diverse population of students.
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being highly organized, self-directed, and forward-thinking.
Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.
Strong interpersonal skills and have a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery.
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player.
Possess the ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.
Possess negotiation and conflict resolution skills to address issues and opportunities for improvement.
Possess the ability to effectively plan, coordinate and prioritize workloads based on available resources.
