Duties

Plan, arrange and execute all aspects of investigative actions (includes travel and notification of/coordination with, appropriate officials). Conduct initial review of issues, complaints, allegations, and requests for IG assistance. Assist in conducting on-site investigation visits to activities (government and non-government). Review Inspector General Action Requests (IGARs) received via correspondence, telephone calls and walk-ins. Develop case files for each complaint, grievance, or allegation. Determine complaint category in accordance with IG requirements and logs complaints into an IG computer database. Manage executive correspondence to the Member of Congress via the Army Task Management Tool (TMT).

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel. Incumbent must be able to lift at least 10 pounds. Position requires incumbent to successfully take and pass the Inspector General Course. One year probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing Inspector General (IG) investigative functions such as preliminary analysis, assisting directed investigations, investigative inquiries and/or assistance inquires; planning and/or conducting Inspector General investigations and inquiries into allegations of impropriety; preparing reports of investigation and/or investigative inquiry. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
