LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

Thomas & Hutton is currently seeking a Landscape Architect based in Durham, NC to continue to our growing business by establishing a team in our Nashville office. As a member of our landscape architecture department, the successful candidate will work collaboratively in an interactive studio environment throughout all phases of multiple projects. Responsibilities will include project management which will include coordination with the Clients, design team, permitting jurisdiction and contractors, design (schematic, design development and construction level), preparation of construction plans that will include planting and hardscape plans and details, specifications, reports, studies, cost estimates and permit applications.   • Master planning through detailed design activities as both a project manager and project contributor.
  • Mentoring and technical oversight of junior and mid-level staff.
  • Business development activities including but not limited to networking, preparation of proposals, interviewing, and negotiating fees.
  • Preparation/review of deliverables including reports, cost estimates, renderings, plans and specifications.
  • Miscellaneous tasks as required to assist the project team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's in landscape architecture from an accredited University or College.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Landscape Architect including experience with planning and design of communities, parks, streetscapes, and other similar project types.
  • Registration as a PLA/Landscape Architect is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead presentations in both public and private settings. Experience with leading projects through a design review, entitlement or other similar public approval process is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry software applications (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Adobe Design Suite, Sketch-up, Lumion and all Microsoft Office programs).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Some travel will be required to undertake the job duties described above. Travel may be planned or on an immediate basis and the candidate will need to be flexible in meeting project deadlines.
  • Land and site planning design experience highly preferred
Must submit a portfolio that accurately represents experience and understanding of the design process to include built projects photos, presentation graphics and other design materials that represent skill set. Thomas & Hutton is a Drug-Free Workplace & E-Verify Participant
