TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Orlando, FL.

Summary: The Technician I, performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
  • Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
  • Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
  • Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
  • Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
  • Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
  • Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.


Required Skills & Experience:
  • Basic computer and networking experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • Able to follow established procedures on routine work
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Practical experience with electronics/technology hardware.
  • Be able to complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position.
  • Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
  • Be able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
  • Ability to safely work in aerial lifts including bucket trucks of various heights (40ft up to 80ft)

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • CDL Class B
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing CCTV and MVDS units and DMS signs
  • Component level board repair experience
  • Industry Specific Certifications.

Education:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
