Technician I

Summary: The Technician I, performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
- Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
- Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
- Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
- Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
- Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
- Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Basic computer and networking experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
- Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
- Able to follow established procedures on routine work
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Practical experience with electronics/technology hardware.
- Be able to complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position.
- Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
- Be able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
- Ability to safely work in aerial lifts including bucket trucks of various heights (40ft up to 80ft)
Desired Skills & Experience:
- CDL Class B
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing CCTV and MVDS units and DMS signs
- Component level board repair experience
- Industry Specific Certifications.
Education:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
