Become a vital member of our housekeeping team as a Custodial Services Technician I.

This role is crucial for the operational upkeep and cleanliness of campus facilities, ensuring a safe, functional, and appealing environment for both living and learning.

The Custodial Services Technician I will undertake cleaning of designated areas, address maintenance issues, and respond to inquiries from customers and staff.


Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and replenish supplies in common areas, including restrooms, sinks, showers, toilets, and entryways.
Perform vacuuming in carpeted spaces, including relocating furniture and spot cleaning.
Conduct sweeping and mopping of floors, stairwells, and other surfaces.
Execute surface cleaning tasks, including dusting, wiping, and scrubbing of furniture, walls, and kitchen appliances.
Dispose of trash and recycling from assigned locations.
Carry out light maintenance tasks, such as restroom dispenser repairs, drain cleaning, light replacements, and pressure washing.
Shampoo and extract carpets and upholstery.
Refinish flooring through stripping, waxing, and buffing (including tile and VCT).

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 9th grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience as per state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year of relevant experience in custodial or a similar capacity.

Proficient in using both small and large tools necessary for essential tasks (floor care equipment, mops, dust mops, etc.).

Familiarity with standard office software applications and work order systems.

Ability to communicate effectively in English to collaborate with customers and team members, operate electronic devices, understand safety protocols, and use telecommunication tools.

Flexibility to adapt to work assignments and urgent requirements.
Understanding of safety guidelines and proper use of chemicals as per Environmental Health & Safety standards.
Capability to operate a fleet vehicle as needed.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.

Health Assessment Required:
Completion and passing of a physical examination is mandated for this position.

Special Instructions for Applicants:
A valid Class E driver's license is required. This position may necessitate travel to various locations for university-related tasks.
