Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a the Program Coordinator II (Government Relations Coordinator). This position will report to Senior Vice President for Government Relations.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Provides essential support across State Government Affairs, Federal Government Relations, and the Scarlet Service initiatives.
  • Assists the Senior Vice President with the University's federal and state relations activities through a variety of tasks, as needed.
  • Schedules appointments with elected representatives and their staff for various officers, faculty, staff and students of the University.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of events and meetings on campus, including visits by government officials, in an efficient and orderly manner.
  • Assists with requests from the staff of elected representatives, which require a courteous, timely, and articulate response.
  • Tracks legislation and attending hearings that are of interest to Rutgers.
  • Represents the university at meetings with a variety of external associations and coalitions, and helps the university to stay informed about higher education community trends and positions.
  • Helps the department accomplish its goals related to government relations and Scarlet Service.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with external stakeholders, including government officials and their staff, and the Rutgers community in all activities.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education
    and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • May be required to help with event set up/breakdown, including moving tables and chairs, and transporting supplies.

  • Periodic travel to locations around Rutgers, the state and federal capitols and to event locations around the state will be required.
  • Clean Driving Record.
