Description

PS Technology Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad Company, seeks three (3) Associate Systems Engineers in Louisville, CO (may telecommute up to 50% of work time). At Union Pacific, we understand that our technology solutions are at the heart of our success. We're looking for a talented application developer to spearhead our application development and support the maintenance of our Financial Audit and Operation Reporting systems. As we continue to build our systems, we need to ensure that the data being sent around our network is clean, in sync with other systems, and is easy to access.

Accountabilities
  • Design, implement and maintain large data intense analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Proactive oversight and performance tuning applications.
  • Provide data consultation on complex projects and acts as a top-level specialist.
  • Study and create data comparisons while troubleshooting issues, present results using various visualizations like charts and graphs, reports to interested parties.
  • Ensure compliance with data architecture principles and standards for systems and components based on design patterns.
  • Create custom analytics and data mining algorithms to help extract knowledge and meaning from vast stores of data to develop solutions for financial audit, reporting and exploratory systems.
  • Collaborate with platforms team to establish metadata management, data catalogs, data standards, and best practices for data management with objective of establishing data governance and data retention policy/strategy.
  • Provide 24x7 production support and troubleshoot business problems for data intense systems.
Qualifications - Required
  • Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in computer science, computer/electrical/electronic engineering, management information systems, or a related field of study.
  • Three (3) years of experience in information technology or a related occupation.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Spring.
  • Three (3) years of experience developing multiple layer web applications including database access, java RESTful services.
  • Three (3) years of experience with testing software such as jUnit, dBUnit, or jMeter.
  • Three (3) years of experience with open-source technologies Apache, JBoss, SVN, GIT and RESTful APIs.
  • Three (3) years of experience and solid knowledge of Object-Oriented development techniques.
  • Three (3) years of experience with continuous integration experience with Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Three (3) years of experience in following Agile methodology.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Crew Management or Crew Timekeeping domain knowledge.
  • Exposure to Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well with and lead other people as part of a geographically diverse development team.
  • Must pass background check investigation and medical review.
