Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for routine building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
  • Receives, distributes, and warehouses supplies.
  • Performs daily rounds to the buildings to ensure smooth operating conditions.
  • Performs all phases of minor renovations and construction and is capable of handling assigned projects from initial design through completion with minimal supervision.
  • Responds to all facilities needs, as necessary.

Property Upkeep

  • Responsible for snow removal, lawn upkeep, auto maintenance, fire and security checks, painting, electrical work, and HVAC servicing.
  • Maintains stock, replaces and repairs equipment and office outlets, removes garbage, and maintains the general appearance of the buildings.
  • Troubleshoots potential problem areas.
  • Handles all emergency repairs whenever possible to heating, air conditioning, and other equipment.
  • Handles all temporary repairs (as needed) until a more permanent solution can be accomplished.
  • Completes minor renovations and construction including: layout, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and finish work.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks as well as project maintenance.

Transport and Receipt

  • Receives deliveries of ordered equipment and supplies, distributes items accordingly, warehouses extra supplies, and maintains inventory.
  • Assists in the moving of offices and equipment; sets up Conference Center for meetings and other functions as required.

Miscellaneous

  • Responds appropriately to building needs as they arise. Handles such situations individually and as directed by the Physical Plant Supervisor.
  • Assists in the recycling process throughout the company.
  • Attempts to reduce wasted effort and eliminate unnecessary paperwork.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Carries cell phone on a rotational basis with other Physical Plant members to receive and respond to all emergencies related to the GUARD campus.
Qualifications
  • Capable of handling/lifting items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a responsible driving record.
  • Possess formal vocational/trade training or commensurate work experience.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of commercial facilities maintenance and general work experience in varied trades.
  • Possess organizational and communications skills as well as the ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.
  • Able to direct the efforts of others.
  • Willing to be on call overnight once a month
