This position serves as the Geologist for the Division of Lands and Minerals, Branch of Fluid Minerals in the Utah State Office.

Serves as a technical expert on Fluid Mineral management and provides State Director level review of appeals of field office decisions.

Provides technical review of mineral reports and appraisals for field offices.
Review, recommend, and prepare responses to headquarters (HQ) on national policy matters.
Develops statewide and State Office minerals management policy for one or more minerals program areas.
Prepares staff analysis and reports on minerals programs and policies for the State.

Monitors and performs program audits to ensure internal consistency and compliance with general Bureau regulations and State Office policies and procedures by the field offices.

Assists in identifying specific training needs, developing training courses, and participating as an instructor in those State training courses concerning Fluid Minerals management.

Conducts Drainage Reservoir quarterly studies and is the Program Lead for BLM Drainage Management Program for oil and gas.

Provides technical reports on helium, lithium, rare earth minerals, oil and gas, geothermal, tar sands, and combined hydrocarbons to effectively carry out program responsibilities and tasks.

Conducts geological studies and reviews Fluid Minerals leasing, permitting, and reclamation programs.

Prepares complex, technical reports on geologic studies, which may require developing new fields, remote sensing methods, and laboratory investigations conveying complex geologic, geomorphic, geochemical, biological, and hydrologic information.

Provides technical advice on geologic and geophysical data for preliminary basin analysis, resource assessment for track selection and evaluation, and reserves inventory.

Works with data sets from varied sources, including data published by various State, Federal, and international entities.
