Mining Geologist

The Mining Geologist - Resource Estimation Expert will provide technical expertise to Barr's multidisciplinary project teams. This role involves developing drilling exploration programs, providing field exploration and mapping support, developing geologic models, resource and reserve estimation, and report writing for mine technical reports.
Key Responsibilities- Develop drilling exploration programs and provide field exploration and mapping support
- Develop geologic models and estimate resources and reserves
- Write reports for mine technical reports
- Provide technical expertise to project teams
- Manage projects involving metal and non-metal mining
- Develop and implement business development strategies
- Manage project planning and scheduling, and workload estimating
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in technical and project management skills
- Bachelor's degree in mining, geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering; geology; or a related discipline
- 10 years of related experience
- Strong background in resource estimation
- Familiarity with mine modeling software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Leapfrog, Surpac, Carlson, Minesight, or similar
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and with teams of specialists
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- 15 years of related experience
- 7 years of resource estimation experience
- Geostatistics experience
- Experience performing and managing mineral exploration programs
- Mine operations and/or development and planning experience
- National Instrument or SK-1300 Qualified Person
- Established network with area clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position, which involves splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
Compensation and BenefitsThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000-$130,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
