Responsibilities:
  • Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and necessary equipment, such as knives, pans, and kitchen scales
  • Review each recipe and order ingredients to meet business needs while maintaining recipe standards
  • Ensure all food is prepared within the specified ticket times
  • Assign tasks to kitchen staff, supervise quality, and ensure tasks are completed
  • Inform wait staff about daily specials
  • Oversee food preparation to meet quality standards and drive revenue
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to kitchen staff as required
  • Adjust recipes slightly to accommodate customer preferences (e.g. reducing salt, omitting dairy)
  • Monitor food inventory levels and place orders when necessary
  • Inspect food freshness and remove expired items
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the kitchen area
  • Conduct quarterly comparisons with similar establishments regarding food and expenses
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Assistant Chef or Chef
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of kitchen equipment (e.g. grills, pasta makers)
  • Advanced understanding of culinary, baking, and pastry techniques
  • Preferably hold a diploma from a culinary school
