Family Practice Full-Time position in Washington, District of Columbia

The Chief Terminologist designs and oversees multiple large mapping, modeling, analysis, and consultation projects in support of operations, Vista, EHR modernization, data standardization, semantic interoperability, health API implementation, standards enhancement, natural language processing and advanced clinical knowledge representation.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm (Remote)
VHA Terminology Team members who work under the leadership of the Chief Terminologist have deep knowledge of SNOMED, RxNORM, MedRT, LOINC, SOLOR and other fundamental clinical terminologies.
When existing terminology is insufficient, the VHA Terminology Team models new terms with appropriate technologies (e.g., post-coordination, formal logic and extensions) to meet immediate needs and to share with the standards communities at large.
The VHA Terminology Team is proficient in terminology-related standards such as HL7 (CIMI, Analysis Normal Form, FHIR, Knowledge Artifact specification) and OMG BPM+ suite for clinical process modeling.
The VHA Terminology Team does not just apply advanced terminology knowledge – it has an outstanding and longstanding track record of advancing clinical terminology knowledge for the public good.
The Chief Terminologist works closely with the Director of KBS and aligns the work of the Terminology Team with that of the Clinical Decision Support, Standards and Interoperability, and Informatics Architecture Teams, working closely with the leaders of each.
Preferred Qualification:
Board certified in "Clinical Informatics"
- Post-Doc fellowship in informatics
- Masters in informatics (in addition to MD/DO)
