Job Description


The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Social Work invites applications for a Director of the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the Teaching Assistant / Associate Professor (Non-Tenure Track) OR Associate Professor (Tenure-Track).

The position is located in Reno, Nevada, on the main campus. This is not a remote position. It is full-time (9 months) and has summer availability. The position will start in Spring 2025. Join a dedicated and inclusive faculty that supports innovation, educational access, and academic excellence.


The ideal candidate will be able to teach primarily in the MSW program and across modalities (e.g., on-ground and online) in generalist and advanced generalist social work.

This position also requires curriculum development, administrative leadership, and active research engagement (for a tenured position).

The candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

Required Qualifications


Teaching Assistant / Associate Professor, non-tenure track - A doctorate in social work or a closely related field, and at least 2 years or more of post-MSW social work practice experience and leadership experience.


Associate Professor, tenure-track - A doctorate in social work or a closely related field, and at least 2 years or more of post-MSW social work practice experience and leadership experience.

Tenured Associate-level applicants must demonstrate an established record of research and scholarship.

**For applicants with a doctorate, the determination of tenure-track or non-tenure track is at the hiring manager's discretion after discussing this with the applicant.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior academic administrative experience at the university level

Experience with online teaching and distance education programs

Practice or scholarship interests in trauma-informed care, behavioral health, or addictions
