Sage Hospitality is set to hire a full time Food and Beverage Manager for the AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown. You will contain a creative spirit that makes this AC Marriott come to life, all the while precisely managing the operation keeping the hotel profitable.

Job Overview

Plan and manage the Restaurant, Room Service, Bar, and catering in order to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with corporate/franchise policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations while meeting/exceeding financial goals. Position is responsible for the short term planning and managing the operations of the Restaurant, Room Service, Bar and catering. Recommends promotional ideas and procedural changes. Prepares forecasts, implements, monitors and controls the budgets for the various outlets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of banquets to ensure compliance with SOPs, Banquet Event Orders, safety regulations and procedures and to ensure an optimal level of service, quality, and hospitality.
  • Observe, teach, and correct staff's service.
  • Examine food preparation and beverage presentation.
  • Monitor food and liquor requisitions and food waste.
  • Check bar controls shot glass use, red lining, and bottles totally empty daily.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all liquor liability laws.
  • Must follow emergency procedures and safety protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Manage the associates to attract, retain and motivate the employees; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, and recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate.
  • Calculate and prepare the daily gratuities and ensure accurate timekeeping records for prompt reporting to the finance department.
  • Monitor and control the maintenance/sanitation of the food and beverage areas and equipment to protect the assets.
  • Analyze banquet event orders, read BEO and know how to complete a set-up.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and associates to ensure that all room setups, equipment, supplies, staffing, and menus meet/exceed customer's expectations.
  • Monitor and control budget (i.e., labor costs, beverage costs, supplies, and equipment) and coordinate with event budgets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while providing quality guest service.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the department's annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts, and objectives to meet/exceed management expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with the F+B team to provide updates, discuss plans, communicate needs, and align on priorities, understanding that flexibility with your responsibilities is paramount to support a successful operation.
  • Collaborate effectively with all hotel departments including Sales, Food + Beverage, and Hotel Operations to provide an exemplary guest experience.
  • Implement and manage all company programs (company/franchise) to ensure compliance with the SOPs; to include safety and sanitary regulation, all federal, state, and local regulations to ensure optimal levels of quality service and hospitality are provided to the guest.
  • Market the Food and Beverage outlets; develop and manage the implementation of menus, package deals, promotions, displays, decorations, and presentations within corporate guidelines to capture more in-house guests and a larger share of the local market to meet/exceed sales and financial goals and objectives.
  • Manage the maintenance/sanitation of the food and beverage areas and equipment in the hotel to protect the asset, comply with regulations and ensure quality service.
  • Respond to customer needs, issues, comments, and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

More than two years of post high school education.

Experience

One to two years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters.
  • Interpreting instructions from customers, associates, and managers.
  • Must have excellent oral communication for communicating with guests and associates, issuing instructions and communicating policies.
  • Excellent comprehension required to read and implement policies and procedures; writing schedules and reading forecast and SOPs.
  • Must have knowledge of food safety and chemicals/agents for training purposes.
