ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking a Project Support & Technical Specialist to support a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD.

Job Description: Project Support & Technical Specialist to support projects for the Lunar Communications Relay and Navigation Systems - LCRNS This job directly supports engineering and project management teams by providing support to the systems engineering and flight dynamics team as they work to further define user needs and mission requirements for initial and future LCRNS navigation services. The contractor shall expect to work in collaboration with NASA as well as NASA's partners in other government agencies, industry, academia, and other contractors in the accomplishment of the technical objectives of the task. The contractor shall be expected to provide timely support of unplanned high-priority actions as circumstances dictate to support the LCRNS mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support the LCRNS team in defining the desired orbits for initial and subsequent nodes, including their fuel budget and maneuver operations concept.
  • Provide comprehensive support for reference orbit design and the development of flight dynamics products, including shadow and contact analysis, navigation performance metrics, and the evaluation of other subsystem constraints.
  • Provide general mission design support encompassing the following areas:
  • Requirements: Define performance and functional requirements for LCRNS flight dynamics.
  • Optimization and Metrics: Develop and define metrics for optimizing orbits for single and multiple nodes.
  • Analysis: Support the analysis of the initialization and maintenance of the constellation.
  • Business Tooling Solutions: Maintain and update business tooling systems, this includes Constellation Tool software.
  • Programmatic Mission Milestone support: The contractor shall support LCRNS Systems Engineering reviews, for example SRR, PDR, CDR. This includes preparing review material and presenting at these reviews.
  • On boarding: Provided onboard support for the Luna Net Service Provider (LNSP).
  • Support updates to the LGAT Constellation tool, including bug fixes and minor feature updates, supporting analysis, supporting documentation.
  • Perform analysis supporting trajectory updates to the DRM on an as-needed basis.
  • Support LNSP on-boarding including 1-2 LGAT dry runs, LGAT run for record, support CVM milestone test events.
  • Additional duties as needed.

  • Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
  • Experience communicating and explaining technical concepts in a meaningful way to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job. Some travel may be required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of experience.
