The Staff Accountant - Treasury reports directly to the Accounting Operations Manager. The Staff Accountant - Treasury is responsible for handling all Treasury Operations transactions, accounting, and reconciliation functions using a variety of methods while demonstrating the highest level of professional service.

The Staff Accountant - Treasury is expected to:

  • Create all journal entries to record bank account transactions, including cash receipts, transfers and disbursements for multiple companies.
  • Initiate controlled disbursement funding and sweep transactions.
  • Review bank transactions and route incoming funds to appropriate business units.
  • Handle all aspects of check production including verification, printing, distribution and transmission of positive pay files while following established internal control procedures.
  • Encrypt and transmit ACH billing files.
  • Verify and release daily EFTs and wires through online banking software.
  • Process bank returns and stop payment requests.
  • Track and reconcile daily cash transactions and maintain key treasury financial records.
  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliations; research and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile Petty Cash and process Home Office check deposits.
  • Promptly handle client inquiries and requests, including investigation of unauthorized transactions and fraudulent checks.
  • Respond to internal and external audit inquiries, including supporting the annual external audit.
  • Assist with Treasury month end responsibilities.
  • Must comply with privacy guidelines; will protect the privacy of customer information.
  • Other duties and projects as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounting, treasury, or similar office experience required.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • General Ledger concepts and bank account reconciliations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications, especially Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a high volume of daily work with strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively build and extend relationships
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Take initiative and the ability to recommend changes that will improve workflow
  • Accounting systems and banking software knowledge desirable
  • Insurance Industry knowledge a plus
