EEO SPECIALIST

We are currently seeking an EEO Specialist to join our team.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, and other EEO violations originating from client companies. This role requires significant decision-making governed by federal, state, and local employment laws, EEO best practices, and internal procedures and guidelines with the goal of minimizing potential liability to Insperity and clients. The EEO Specialist must adeptly balance customer service and support with compliance to help clients foster workplace environments that are inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination.

RESPONSIBILITIES


• Assesses incoming complaints to the EEO Services Team to determine the presence of adverse action and protected basis. Utilizes company guidelines to determine the appropriate department to manage resolution.


• Utilizes best practices and internal processes to plan, conduct, and complete prompt, thorough, and unbiased investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination and other applicable federal and state EEO statutes involving client worksite employees. Analyze and assess fact patterns to determine when timely escalation to applicable leadership or other partners is needed.


• Manages multiple investigative matters with competing and changing deadlines. Prioritizes tasks, allocates resources efficiently, and adjusts strategies as needed to ensure timely and thorough completion of all investigations. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and provide updates on investigation progress.


• Evaluates investigative findings to determine the best practices approach(es) to resolving matters. Resolutions include preparing and submitting clear, concise and grammatically correct position statements, negotiating settlements via direct discussions with plaintiff's counsel, complaining employees, and client contacts, participating in agency conciliation efforts including mediation, Fact Finding calls, Requests for Information (RFI), investigative hearings, and other agency-required processes. Facilitates necessary closure and findings calls, inclusive of recommendations, with applicable stakeholders. Partner with Service for effective implementation of recommendations at the conclusion of the matter.


• Maintains accurate case files and corresponding documentation in case management systems and databases daily. Ensures investigative details and summaries are clear and thorough while also visible and quickly actionable by legal partners and EEO leadership.


• Develops rapport and acts as primary point of contact and subject matter expert with applicable stakeholders to collaborate and influence the timely completion of investigations and corresponding resolutions. Consistently delivers on Insperity's customer-for-life strategy with high levels of customer service and focus on client retention.


• Develops and appropriately leverages internal relationships as resources in navigating client interactions to deliver value-added service and Participates in focused outreach and education initiatives regarding EEO services offerings, industry trends, and new legal developments.


• Participates in continuous education to maintain current and comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State EEO laws and emerging EEO trends. Utilizes information in the resolution of matters and support clients with regulatory compliance, and regularly shares material and learnings with EEO Team.


• Seeks out and engages in additional responsibilities and projects as opportunities arise.

QUALIFICATIONS


• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology or a related field or four years of related experience is required.


• Three to five years of experience in investigating and resolving employment complaints and/or employee relations, conflict resolution, negotiating or other relevant job experience is required.


• PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.


• General understanding of fundamental EEO laws and regulations along with the ability to apply and provide guidance on those laws and regulations.


• Familiarity with basic methods for conducting thorough and unbiased investigations including an awareness of compliance requirements and regulatory standards relevant to EEO investigations.


• Understanding of human resources principles and EEO best practices, inclusive of mediation techniques, basic skills in negotiating settlements and resolving disputes and general business acumen. Ability to analyze complex information, assess fact patterns, and draw logical conclusions.


• Understanding of basic concepts and practices that promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.


• Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in documentation and investigation processes with ability to adhere to established guidelines and protocols.


• Capable of communicating to a wide audience, at all levels of an organization and translate information and issues into understandable terms.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and interacting with stakeholders. Ability to listen well and quickly analyze information in order to ask relevant questions and gain additional information.


• Emerging proficiency in identifying issues, developing solutions, and implementing effective resolutions.


• Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.


• Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.


• Capability to think critically and make sound decisions based on evidence and regulatory requirements.


• Understanding of the importance of handling sensitive information with discretion.


• Ability to maintain composure and focus in challenging situations. Shows perseverance and adaptability when handling stressful investigations and tight deadlines.


• Willingness and ability to adapt to new processes, tools and guidelines.


• Ability to deliver professional and impactful presentations to internal and external stakeholders.


• Proven ability to maintain focus and high productivity in a remote or work-from-home setting, demonstrating strong self-discipline and accountability.


• Ability to assimilate new information and apply in a timely manner.


• Maintains dedicated workspace with minimal background noise and limited distractions in order to engage in sensitive phone calls.


• Ability to work remotely as needed, maintaining a reliable connection via stable and high-speed internet connection for seamless communication, accessing company resources, uploading/downloading files, video conferencing and other job requirements.


• Ability to work in-office work and/or other requisite back up plans for ensuring seamless completion of work.
