Job Summary
The Associate Director of Orientation and Transition Programs is responsible for the development, oversight, and coordination of (1) Registration Days and (2) University Success courses at UNO. The overall goal of the AD is to support and advance student enrollment and persistence and early success of first year and transfer students at UNO. This position will work collaboratively with staff in academic advising, student affairs, enrollment services, the Office of First Year Success and other offices and departments as necessary.
Job Description
​The position will be responsible for:

Training, support, and supervision of Peer Leadership such as UNIV Peer Mentors and Orientation Leaders.

University Success (UNIV) Curriculum Instruction and Design: Creation and evaluation of learning outcomes; continuous designs of 1001 and 1003 curricula; instruct 1001 and 1003; development of UNIV course for transfer students; creation of special courses (STEM, transfer, leadership, departmental)

Registration Day Coordination: Coordinate Registration Day Committee; Set learning outcomes for program; Facilitate reservations for program; Design in-person and online agendas of first year and transfer registration days; Collaborate with academic advising, enrollment services, and other campus partners to ensure a smooth enrollment process for new students.

Online Orientation Module Management: Coordinate annual updates to the online orientation modules including policy updates, fact-checking information, and working with university marketing for content.

Budget Management: Work with division business manager to oversee UNIV Peer mentor and staff training budgets (materials, food, etc); Classroom supply budget (items for class activities: Sticky notes, poster boards, markers, etc); stipend for peer mentors and additional staff; logoed shirts; other UNIV programming; manage funding and costs of Registration Days (OL stipend, catering costs, supply costs).

Assessment: UNIV Peer mentor experience assessment, Instructor feedback assessment; UNIV student satisfaction assessment/official course evaluations; achievement of student learning outcomes; Registration Day program assessment; evaluation of learning outcomes.

Retention: Participation in the first-year retention initiatives; ensure UNIV 1001 & UNIV 1003 learning outcomes directly support UNO's retention goals.

Fall MAMBO: Creation of MAMBO Week UNIV 1001 curriculum; execution of UNIV 1001 aspects of MAMBO Week.

Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Student Affairs staff members to support an inclusive institutional climate that fosters inclusive excellence, creates opportunities for student learning, and supports student from with a variety of identities (i.e., first-generation status, veteran status, ability, religion, race/ethnicity, etc). Embrace and actively promote a positive work environment.

Miscellaneous: Semester course assignments, cancellations, etc; Peer mentor- Instructor matching; creation of a campus partner "presentation bank"; continuous updating Faculty/Student resource manual; tracking completion of Privateer Plunge; assist in Office of Orientation & Transition Programs initiatives as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field -OR- 3-5 years of working experience in higher education.

Experience working directly with people from a diversity of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, and social economic status.

Commitment to preparing students to understand, live among, appreciate, and work in an inherently diverse country and world made up of people with different military backgrounds, religious beliefs, socio-economic status, cultural traditions, abilities, ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

Excellent oral, written communication, and strong interpersonal skills; self-starter and willing to travel and work non-traditional hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in first year success, orientation, enrollment, event planning, campus activities, or related field.

Technical experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, and TargetX software.
