The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine of Ochsner Health is looking for a full-time Associate Director/ Co-Director of an ASHI and CAP-accredited Histocompatibility Laboratory.

The applicant will join a current ASHI certified HLA physician director who is also board certified in transfusion medicine and anatomic/clinical pathology.

The HLA laboratory provides testing for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency and supports robust pediatric and adult bone marrow and solid organ (liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, lung) transplant programs at Ochsner Health. The HLA section also performs testing for HLA associated diseases.

Applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree. Physician candidates must be eligible for Louisiana medical license and have completed an anatomic and/or clinical pathology (AP/CP) residency or another ACGME accredited program and be board certified or eligible. PhD candidates must have a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, genetics, pathology or in related biomedical sciences, followed by completion of an HLA Director in Training program. Candidates should be accredited or eligible by the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) in the solid organ transplant, hematopoietic stem cell transplant, and other clinical testing categories. Additional expertise and board certification in clinical pathology subspecialties, such as transfusion medicine, are valuable assets. The position is flexible and can accommodate applicants interested in HLA only or a combination of HLA/ transfusion medicine or clinical pathology responsibilities. A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude.

The bone marrow transplant program is accredited by the Foundation for Accreditation in Cellular Therapy (FACT). The solid organ transplant program is accredited by UNOS.
