Job Tile: Lower School Spanish Teacher (Part Time)

Reports to: K-8 Director of Teaching and Learning

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Spanish teacher for the 24-25 school year. This is a part time role of 8 to 10 hours per week teaching grades Kindergarten to Fourth. The ideal candidate will possess native or near-fluency in Spanish, an exemplary pedagogical repertoire for second-language learning, a passion for teaching, and experience in designing curriculum. Further, successful candidates will also have excellent classroom management skills, experience working with elementary students, and the desire to work closely with colleagues.

Lower school Spanish classes emphasize speaking and listening while developing students' cultural competence. Classes are taught predominantly in the target language. Throughout the curriculum students learn to communicate in Spanish while exploring cultural practices and global perspectives. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in student-centered, collaborative and comprehensible input (CI) teaching methodologies. The flexibility to teach multiple ages, experience with curriculum development, and an active interest in teaching with project-based and technology-based learning is preferred.

Specific job responsibilities include teaching K-4 Spanish, working with the 5-8 Spanish teacher to ensure cohesion in the curriculum, and performing additional supervisory duties as needed.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in teaching Spanish.
  • Interest in outdoor education, place-based activities, and project-based learning
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and dedication to continuously developing and practicing cultural competence in one's teaching are also essential. Compensation and Benefits:
