Position Overview

Compensation: $19.45 per hour - $32,500 annually

Role: Upper Elementary Mathematics Instructor (Grades 4-6)

Compensation Structure:

  • $32,500 for Highly Qualified candidates with a Bachelor's degree and passing scores on the PRAXIS exam.
  • $19.45 per hour for Non-Highly Qualified candidates with only a Bachelor's degree.

Employment Status:

  • Exempt Regular Full-Time for Highly Qualified candidates.
  • Non-Exempt for Non-Highly Qualified candidates; timesheet submission required.

Annual Work Days: 196

Application Requirements: Degree transcripts and diploma must be submitted for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Successful completion of the Elementary Education Praxis exam is preferred.
  • The Vanguard School offers reimbursement for the Praxis exam taken post-hire.

Primary Responsibilities:

The role involves teaching students as an assistant groups teacher, focusing primarily on mathematics.

General Objective: To enhance our achievement-driven group model for mathematics education. Each instructional aide will independently manage a reading and math group, while also providing support to homeroom teachers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and model virtuous character development in students.
  • Uphold the school's mission through adherence to established policies and practices.
  • Deliver instruction for assigned math groups.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies that foster student achievement.
  • Establish a positive environment conducive to inquiry and learning.
  • Assist the homeroom teacher with classroom management tasks.
  • Supervise lunch and recess for the assigned homeroom class.
  • Act as a substitute during the absence of the homeroom teacher or other instructional staff.
  • Support the homeroom teacher in ensuring compliance with uniform standards.
  • Facilitate student transitions to and from all Specials classes and recesses.
  • Perform carline duties and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist the homeroom teacher with various tasks to maintain an efficient classroom environment, including administrative duties such as copying, filing, and organizing materials.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Completion of the PRAXIS 5901 series, which includes tests in Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.

Note: A teaching certificate or license is not required for employment at The Vanguard School.

Compensation Details:

  • $19.45 per hour (Bachelor's Degree required).
  • $32,500 per year (Bachelor's Degree and passing Praxis exam(s) required).
