Organization: Allergy, Pulmonary and Critica

Job Summary: We are searching for a motivated, collaborative and enthusiastic research assistant to join a multidisciplinary translational science laboratory investigating mechanisms of lung repair and regeneration. The primary focus on this research assistant will be to support the generation and analysis of single-cell/genomic data related to multiple ongoing projects in the laboratory. Under moderate supervision, this research assistant will be expected to set up, conduct experiments, and continue research projects following established protocol protocols, and build upon established computational workflows to analyze genomic datasets in collaboration with other members of the laboratory. Key functions will include the appropriate recording and management of study data and analysis workflows, reporting of expected or variant results, and assisting in other laboratory and research functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under supervision, run experiments, assays, and record results
  • Read and follow experimental protocols (May include tissue culture, etc.)
  • Utilize open-source software tools for single-cell/genomic analysis
  • Assist with management of genomic datasets
  • Compile and communicate results to supervisor
  • Follow University safety protocols (may include use of combustibles, radioactivity, toxic material, and/or carcinogenics)
  • Perform calculations involving molarity, % solutions, and serial dilutions
  • Prepare and operate equipment in experimental procedures
  • May include blood gas analyzer, centrifuge, pH meter, spectrophotometer, autoclave, scintillation counter, electrophoresis unit, analytical balance, etc.
  • Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines.
  • Ensure Laboratory is prepared for experiments
  • Maintain inventories,
