Deep Sky is the world's first gigaton-scale carbon removal project developer. We're looking for a bilingual and experienced bookkeeper to join our Deep Sky team. This role is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing company aiming to solve the climate crisis by removing CO2 from the atmosphere and putting it back underground, where it belongs. Join us as we not only slow climate change, but reverse it.

In this role, you will oversee the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining complete sets of accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, sales revenue and daily financial entries and reconciliations. You will perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly/quarterly financial reporting, general ledger entries, invoices payment, and verify the procedures for recording financial transactions. Being in a fast-growing start-up, you may evolve towards a junior controller position in the coming years.

À ce titre, vous superviserez les données financières et la conformité de l'entreprise en tenant des registres complets et précis des comptes créditeurs et débiteurs, des salaires, du chiffre d'affaires, et des écritures et réconciliations financières quotidiennes. Vous effectuerez des tâches comptables quotidiennes telles que la production d'états financiers mensuels et trimestriels, les écritures du grand livre, le paiement des factures et vérifierez les procédures d'enregistrement des transactions financières. Au sein d'une jeune pousse en pleine croissance, vous pourrez évoluer vers un poste de contrôleur(se) junior dans les années à venir.

In this role, you will work very closely with the VP Finance, and you will be responsible, but not limited to, for the following // Dans ce rôle, vous travaillerez en étroite collaboration avec la Vice-présidente des finances, et vous serez responsable, sans toutefois se limiter, de:

  • Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensure legal requirements compliance
  • Develop system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts, and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries
  • Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries
  • Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents
  • Calculate and prepare payroll cheques, process accounts receivable/payable and pay invoice in a timely manner
  • Monitor cash balances, short term investments and cash flows forecasts
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms and other revenue agency forms, workers' compensation forms, pension forms and other government documents
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Comply with federal, state, provincial and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Select and implement the most efficient accounting software to operate the various accounting and bookkeeping tasks in the context of a fast-growing small company
  • Select and implement the most efficient and appropriate expenses management reporting software
