Overview

The Senior Manager, Accounting has overall responsibility for various areas of technical accounting in the organization. This position will design, implement and direct best-in-class processes that can be scaled for future acquisitions and expansion of Consilio's service portfolio. This role will select and mentor team members to build relationships, drive reporting excellence and partner with internal Consilio teams to positively impact the timely and accurate reporting of financial results and insights. Additionally, this position holds responsibility for key company initiatives, including the annual consolidated financial audit.

A hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week in Washington DC is expected.

You will have a chance to work on a variety of accounting projects and obtain a breadth of accounting experiences. This is a great opportunity for a public accounting candidate to jump into a corporate accounting role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly revenue close, including contract reviews as needed, accruals, and analysis. As part of this role, you will manage two direct reports.
  • Lease accounting, including administration of third party tool and review of all monthly close entries.
  • Other technical accounting areas as needed, including business combinations, bad debt allowance, equity, and impairment testing
  • Management and coordination of annual audit
  • Leader in a project to formally design and document our internal controls.
  • In coordination with Technical Accounting Director, ensure the complete and accurate implementation of all new accounting requirements including drafting technical memos and managing accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Integral in accounting for acquisitions as well as integrating systems and procedures into existing ones to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Review and create materials and reports for presentation to executives, to drive improvements and insights, and to share financial data with a wider audience
  • Teaming regularly with various internal organizations to provide financial guidance to management for the evaluation of key business initiatives

Qualifications

  • Licensed (active) CPA
  • 8+ years experience in accounting and auditing at a public accounting firm
  • An excellent understanding of US GAAP requirements, including significant experience with revenue recognition
  • An ability to comprehend technical accounting questions and issues on a broad range of topics, navigate and interpret the relevant authoritative literature, evaluate and recommend solutions, and convey those solutions in easy to understand terms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proven ability to be decisive, resolve issues and deliver on commitments and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a respectful, positive, and professional disposition
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
