Position Summary:

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is in search of a Senior Accountant II who will report directly to the Controller. This role is pivotal in overseeing the processing of expenses and associated documentation, while also assisting in the recording, reconciling, and reporting of the organization’s diverse revenue streams, including grants. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to service excellence. Experience in the non-profit sector is highly valued.

We prioritize in-person collaboration and the community it fosters. Therefore, if selected for this role, you will be expected to work in the office at least three times per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage weekly and monthly accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Conduct bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial schedules and analyses.
  • Perform grant-related tasks, including reviewing grant agreements, reporting on restricted and unrestricted contributions, and preparing salary and indirect cost allocations.
  • Generate accurate and timely financial reports for stakeholders and internal management.
  • Execute general ledger entry tasks, including journal entries and batch data imports.
  • Support the Finance team during annual audits and conduct ad-hoc financial analyses as required.
  • Maintain vendor records, including Form W-9s, and verify banking details.
  • Address accounts payable inquiries promptly and maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation.
  • Process annual 1099 forms, monthly credit card statements, and reconcile personal charges and travel advances.

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, with in-depth knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct (or similar ERP) and SAP Concur invoice processing is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong listening capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, quality-driven, goal-oriented environment.
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 annually. This salary range reflects a good faith estimate of the minimum to maximum salary for this position. The final salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
