Job Description

Responsible for creating and communicating Machine Learning (ML) alerts for all Kinross sites related to plant and/or mobile equipment. Requires communication with multiple sites across the globe around maintenance events and solid knowledge of ML practices and applications. Reports to the Maintenance Machine Learning Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

Build ML agents with company-provided software for the Machine Health Maintenance Team (MHMT) to send out to sites for early failure prevention. Ensure accuracy of the alerts and refine them as needed. Track and examine historical data related to maintenance failure events, facilitating tuning of the ML software continuously. Evaluate alerts given by the ML software to ensure validity and be able to recognize when the wrong patterns need to be retuned. Communicate with Kinross sites to address validated alerts. Keep track of feedback and results from all alerts sent to sites. Develop and optimize analysis procedures to improve alerts and analytic practices. Be able to determine the best practices to keep with each individual site and team, and willing to re-evaluate and change those as the project and sites grow. Regular attendance / communication required. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to: safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by Management. Possession of all documents required for employment by Kinross.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or similar certification in mining or maintenance fields. Engineering, process optimization and programming-adjacent degrees with experience in maintenance or mining is also suitable. Experience in mining maintenance for fixed plant and/or mobile equipment. Optional experience with mining solutions such as MineStar Health, Modular MineCare, Wenco Readyline, or OSI PI. Certifications, courses, or experience in ML or other Artificial Intelligence solutions preferred. Ability to perform and understand statistical and mathematical modelling related to ML. Must be able to apply good verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills that will facilitate efficient and professional interaction with multiple departments over mining and maintenance related terms in English across sites globally. Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, or French would be beneficial.
