The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for a Fiscal Analyst 3 within the Wildland Fire Division. This position will provide fiscal analysis and technical state accounting support concentrating on the Wildland Fire Division's Grant program. The position is an important part of the Wildland Fire Division's business operation and will be part of a collaborative team working towards developing the division's grant infrastructure.Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and developing expenditure and revenue forecasts for the Wildland Fire Division.
  • Creating and running ad-hoc reports, as well as, running monthly budget and expenditure reports and analyzing them.
  • Analyzing and researching complex Wildland Fire expenditures. Making journal voucher requests for incorrect or unusual payments.
  • Independently and with program guidance analyze expenditures for fiscal year-end close to prepare Division grant closeout.
  • Processing reimbursements and tracking federal spending.
  • Develop grant budgets and monitor expenses.
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or general business administration to include 18 quarter or 12 semester credits in accounting;

OR a combination of equivalent education and/or experience Attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills Confidentiality. Ability to prioritize tasks, and to function independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment Strong organizational skills and numerical ability DNR Core Competencies:. Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment
  • Hybrid but may work 100% telework. The duty station is at the Natural Resources Building. Work is indoors. Periodic travel may be required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a financial-related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in state finance.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with federal grants.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform financial reviews and accurately analyze fiscal data.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to research applicable state laws, policies, and procedures related to areas of responsibility.
  • Strong time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Experience working in NaturE, FES, DATAMART, and/or Enterprise Reporting systems.
