The U.S. Bid Team Leader will support and mentor a team of 5-6 Bid specialists that lead the preparation of proposals, including content development, accurate, complete and effective pricing proposals. The candidate will also be responsible for clearly and persuasively articulate solutions and work collaboratively with other team members, partners and subject matter experts. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, bid / rfq / pricing experience, be highly motivated, as well as detailed and process-oriented with a customer service attitude and leadership skills to manage downwards and upwards.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assign work, set completion dates, review work, and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes
  • Ensuring the team is fully utilized (not over nor under)
  • Support the strategy for the development of successful bids in alignment with the company goals by:
  • Helping the bid team in the preparation of winning proposals: coaching, support, first escalation.
  • Ensuring the best pricing is presented on each proposal
  • Making sure those are delivered on time
  • Ability to streamline internal processes and policies to support the business mission and vision
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all USBT process for all Bids and standard templates
  • Provide advice and expertise to the Head of the US Bid Team, the Sales Management organization and the regional organization
  • During peek season, support the team by working directly on strategic bids
  • Provide constant coaching and development to the U.S. Bid Management staff
  • Drive productivity and continuous improvement
  • Ensure the U.S. Bid Team keeps constant communication throughout the RFQ process with Commercial Owners, Regional product teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with sales and product management leadership to present and future opportunities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Required more than 5 years of experience in Freight forwarding/ logistics in Airfreight or Ocean Freight
  • Required a BS/BA degree. Master Degree is a plus
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Proven ability to interpret customer needs as well as negotiation and influence skills
  • Strong project management and analytical skills to translate data to insight and intelligence
  • Requires critical / strategic thinking, creativity, ingenuity, innovation and resourcefulness
  • Strong sales, customer & leadership orientation – with a focus on people and analytics
  • Preferable experience in RFQ management, Bid management, Pricing is desired
