SHIFT: Day/evening/weekend hours | Flexible based upon the needs of the College

LOCATION: Lakeshore Technical College - Cleveland, Wisconsin

POSITION SUMMARY: This position serves as the primary contact for dual enrolled students to assist in the development and delivery of services in academic support, advising, and career exploration. Responsible for building and sustaining relationships with Lakeshore district high schools, specifically with students taking Lakeshore dual credit classes to support academic success. Responsible for case management and support of students by building relationships, maintaining contact, and transitioning students into Lakeshore programs or external transfer. Provide assessment and guidance to students through career development activities and work collaboratively with high school partners (school counselors, career liaisons, transition coordinators, etc.), Lakeshore faculty, Admissions Advisors and Academic Support staff to identify and address barriers impeding completion with the goal of improving student performance through target interventions. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction. Requires travel within the Lakeshore Technical College district.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):

(80%) Dual Credit Student Advisement + Relationship Management
  • Provide guidance and counsel to students designed to assist them in making decisions associated with their academic and/or career goals using a variety of resources appropriate to the students' needs.
  • Conduct one-on-one or group advising sessions with students to address academic and personal concerns, create actions plans for student success, and maintain relevant records to student profiles and progress.
  • Assist students with course selection, registration, and academic and career-goal planning.
  • Maintain and process student information related to academic plans and progress, course placement, student support; document relevant notes to maintain holistic student experience.
  • Utilize available technology to monitor academic progress of students toward degree and/or certificate completion.
  • Proactively collaborate with college-wide departments, faculty, tutors, and academic support staff to advocate, identify, and meet the academic needs of dual credit students.
  • Provide effective student coaching, specifically in the areas of guiding students with career advising and guided pathways, transfer information, goal setting, time management, self-advocacy, and study skills.
  • Guide students through the application submission process.
  • Provide consistent outreach throughout the duration of the students' dual enrollment with Lakeshore.
  • Advise students regarding transferability of courses to and from Lakeshore Technical College.
  • Resolve student questions or concerns on academic policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Respond to student concerns/problems by advising or referring students to appropriate resources.
  • Provide information to students regarding occupational training programs and the admissions process, program requirements, and other Lakeshore services.
(20%) Student Retention + Student Support Services
  • Utilize student information software to input and maintain student registrations and records.
  • Monitor and maintain inquiries that come to Lakeshore Dual Credit inbox.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with district high school partners including counselors, career coaches and instructors.
  • Collaborate with high school, CESA and Youth Apprentice partners to schedule consistent high school visits to meet with dual credit students.
  • Complete activity reports for retention, tracking and accountability purposes.
  • Gather and communicate new opportunities for dual enrollment courses to the K12 Pathways Manager.
  • Contribute opportunity for improvement ideas to K12 Pathways Manager.
  • Assist with retention activities in support of the College and its enrollment management goals.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of recruitment programs, materials and new student orientation.
  • Perform outreach recruiting activities as assigned, including off-campus recruiting opportunities.
  • Participate in Lakeshore events for prospective students including some required evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in educational fairs and related special events representing the college and its programs.
  • Represent Lakeshore at and actively recruit from area high schools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of relevant occupational experience required.
