Position Specific Description


The position requires working from the San Francisco, CA office in-person, full-time supporting renewable energy projects in California and other western states.

This position is in the Environmental Diligence & Permitting Section of the Corporate Environmental Services Department supporting project development for NextEra Energy Resources and other NextEra Energy affiliates.

This position will require willingness to travel up to several times per week. This position requires a highly motivated, independent worker.


The position provides the opportunity to use your environmental knowledge and education to help evaluate and acquire permits for renewable energy projects.

Basic computer literacy, including experience with Windows operating system and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

Exposure to environmental impact analysis regulations, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is preferred.

Understanding of GIS mapping tools is preferred. Willingness to learn new tools, the environmental regulatory framework, and process for developing renewable projects is required.

Primary responsibilities include supporting senior staff in prospecting/diligencing, development, and environmental permitting of projects throughout western North America.

You will support multidisciplinary teams on environmental site constraints (e.g., wetlands, wildlife) and permitting strategies to facilitate development of a broad range of energy projects including wind and solar; energy storage such as batteries and hydrogen; as well as transmission lines.

Project management support will involve tracking project status, organizing files, usage of internal management tools, and high level of coordination with the project team.

This position offers a base salary with eligibility for bonus.
