Job Description:
  • The Coordinator III, Building Information Modeling (BIM) reports to the Director, Facilities Management in a temporary role. This position is responsible for the planning, programming, project management, technical support, oversight, quality assurance, and tactical/strategic development of facility BIM models. BIM models will be developed and maintained in Revit software, and will be hosted in Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM Collaborate Pro.
Role & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance, implementation, training, and support of client's facilities BIM foundation, structure, models, templates, strategies, and tactical details.
  • Manage BIM support personnel when applicable for supporting the facilities BIM development, tasks, and related projects and initiatives.
  • Manage the development, maintenance, and compliance of BIM data usage policies, procedures, and strategic plans at client.
  • Gather, analyze, document, integrate, produce, and maintain BIM data, info, models, and reports.
  • Develop and maintain BIM Program standards, including general standards such as formatting and file structure, as well as discipline-specific standards including architectural, audio-visual, civil, fire safety, IT, MEP, security, structural, and any other disciplines and assets present in Client's facilities/sites.
  • Develop and maintain Revit templates and models for various disciplines and project types.
  • Maintain Revit models to meet Client's standards (i.e., updating families or templates to reflect newly adopted standards) and to address modifications not otherwise documented via another project team (i.e., updating model and serial number for a piece of equipment replaced by maintenance staff).
  • Perform QA reviews of submitted Revit models at project milestone submissions and provide comments to consulting professional service providers regarding adherence to Client's BIM standards.
  • Develop and perform process of model reconciliation at project closeout to bring updated as-built model data into current model status and to archive previous models.
  • Develop file structure for Autodesk Construction Cloud for active projects, archived projects, and current as-built models. Similar file structure should also be implemented for back-ups on Client's servers.
  • Develop backup and archiving standards to ensure BIM data/related drawings are securely maintained.
  • Support and assist staff members including project managers, O&M personnel, and other admin and transit personnel related to projects or objectives that consume, create, or modify BIM data.
  • Oversee and coordinate with Client's consultants and contractors to ensure designs and other related work products are provided per BIM guidelines and standards.
  • Review BIM models submitted by consultants and contractors. Perform clash detection and visual walkthroughs. Audit and review submitted models. Provide design review documentation to communicate conformance of submitted models with Client's BIM guidelines and standards.
  • Continue to research and improve BIM specifications and design guidelines by staying abreast of new technologies to support the ongoing and future BIM operations.
  • Support the continued development, implementation, and quality assurance of facilities smart technology via BIM enhancements to optimize facilities O&M, enhance energy conservation and sustainability achievements, improve the end-user experience, and enrich employee well-being, productivity, and performance.

  • Conduct field work and field visits as required for project execution and to ensure compliance with project specifications. Direct work changes and stoppages when appropriate and justified.
  • Research, develop and implement BIM best practice policies and procedures.
  • Work occasionally outside of normal business hours when required to ensure projects are properly completed.
  • Interface with project teams for BIM discussions and solutions.
  • Support client's (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action, and reporting safety and security concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree related to BIM or Construction Management. Experience may substitute for a degree on a year to year basis up to four (4) years.
  • Five (5) years BIM facilities experience.
  • Two (2) years' experience in Senior BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Facilities experience working for an Owner preferred.
  • Experience with maintaining and updating BIM models for a building owner is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent organization abilities, analytical skills and communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative approach with team members, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to understand, develop, and manage program technical solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a matrix organization, partnering well with other employees, management, stakeholders, users, business personnel, vendors, service providers, and contractors.
  • Ability to be a positive and constructive contributor in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of construction management techniques, engineering and general architectural principles.
  • High proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit software is required, with Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM Collaborate Pro preferred.
  • High proficiency with developing BIM models for design or construction is required.
  • Proficiency with creating and maintaining Revit family library and templates is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of facilities infrastructure design and construction projects.
  • Knowledge of construction management practices.
  • Knowledge of Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie) standard is preferred.
  • General knowledge of IT data and communication premise distribution systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with construction documents for building /site new construction and improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with field work, facilities O&M, and construction inspections regarding tenant improvements, infrastructure asset renewals/replacements, and transit projects preferred.
  • Self-motivated and seek opportunities for continuous improvement of BIM skills and processes. Be a catalyst and a willing participant of organizational changes.
