Overview of the Role

As an AI Model Validation Specialist, you will engage in the validation of AI and statistical models, focusing on the research and development of best practices for Responsible AI and Generative AI implementation within the organization.

Team Introduction

You will be a vital member of the AI/Model Risk Management Team under the Enterprise Financial Risk Oversight unit. Your primary focus will be on the independent quantitative validation of high-impact AI models utilized across the company. Your contributions will be essential in promoting best practices in model development, ensuring safe adoption, and adhering to regulatory standards and industry benchmarks.

Your Impact

Your role will involve researching and formulating responsible AI policies and effective governance strategies. You will identify opportunities for enhancement through model validation, communicate findings to model owners and developers, and ensure prompt remediation of issues. Your efforts will support compliance with various regulatory requirements and enhance customer service.

Daily Responsibilities

In your daily activities, you will:

  • Assist in overseeing high-impact statistical models and AI applications across different business functions, with a focus on developing a governance framework and best practices for Responsible AI and Generative AI.
  • Conduct both quantitative and qualitative validations of models in accordance with internal Model Risk Management policies and industry standards, identifying and reporting issues related to model data, design, and usage while providing expert opinions on model enhancements.
  • Collaborate with various business units and model developers to ensure that identified model issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.

Qualifications

This position requires a blend of curiosity and the ability to research, learn, and apply advanced technical and non-technical skills related to AI and model validation. Candidates should possess the capability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across diverse teams, including data, privacy, legal, security, data science, engineering, product, compliance, and audit.

  • A graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, econometrics, finance, mathematics, computer science, data science, or engineering.
  • Experience in advanced machine learning model development.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in researching the latest advancements in AI/ML and regulatory developments, with the ability to interpret and translate regulations into actionable requirements for AI/model development and monitoring.
  • Experience in conducting model and AI risk governance activities in alignment with enterprise risk frameworks to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Capability to maintain comprehensive technical and policy documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, delivering results in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills to present information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels.
