Job Duties:

Detroit Diesel Corporation seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer based out of our office at 13400 Outer Drive West, Detroit, MI Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address.

Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires domestic/international travel up to 30% of the time.

This position will work with the supplier to ensure performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.

Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting existing or new customer requirements.

Projects may include process analyses, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6-sigma, 5S, and Kaizen events.

Facilitate and help lead the supplier in advanced product quality planning of a new series part production following the international APQP process.

Maintain and update supplier audit system and schedule. Document activities related to investigation, disposition and resolution to quality complaints. Conduct audits to validate supplier ability to meet OEM and various industry business and quality process standards.

Monitor, communicate, and improve key supply chain KPI's, including DPPM, Quality Complaints, and supplier capacity to support OTS (On Time Ship) compliance.

Lead supplier performance continuous improvement projects in order to increase supplier capability of meeting customer existing or new requirements.

Champion problem solving, perform root cause analysis, and take corrective action with suppliers and customers to eliminate any potential issues.

Work cross-functionally as required to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or the foreign equivalent, 24 months of experience in Quality, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering

Must have experience with:
Project Management; Auditing (VDA, IATF, ISO 9001); and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Must have experience with the following Automotive Quality Core Tools:

Advanced Product Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP); Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA); Statistical Process Control (SPC); and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
