POSITION DUTIES

�The investigator/Auditor conducts audits of public and private correctional organizations and investigates the background of, and complaints regarding private home detention programs. Travel is required to audit state and local facilities and private home detention monitoring agencies in the state of Maryland.\r
\r
\r
-� Audits and investigates private home detention businesses to determine eligibility for licensing and compliance with state laws and regulations by conducting on site visits, background reviews and review of criminal history record checks.\r
\r
\r
-� Audits adult correctional facilities and conducts monitoring visits to determine levels of compliance with standards addressing life, health, safety and constitutional issues by traveling to correctional institutions throughout the State and reviewing facility operations and documentation.\r
\r
\r
-� Prepares initial audit reports and follow up monitoring visit reports. Reviews and corresponds with Private Home Monitoring Agencies to determine accuracy of initial licensing and license renewals.\r

-The Commission audits 50+ facilities and 5 private home detention monitoring agencies in the State of Maryland.�\r
\r
\r
-The facilities are scheduled on a 3 year cycle and the private home detention monitoring agencies are scheduled on an initial 6 month to 2 year cycle.\r
\r
\r
-The audit cycles require overnight travel 1-3 times per month and audits may be 2-5 days in length.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r
Experience:�One year of administrative staff or professional work. \r
Notes:\r
1. Candidates may substitute 30�college credit hours from an accredited college or university for�the required experience.\r
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included�regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience. \r

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.� 6 months of experience\r
conducting audits to determine levels of compliance for state or local\r
correctional facilities, as an auditor and/or investigator. \r
2.� 6 months of experience\r
preparing audit reports regarding compliance with state laws, regulations\r
and/or standards. \r
3.� 6 months of experience using\r
Microsoft Suite with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Google Workplace with\r
Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Meet.\r

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
