Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States Center for Energy and Environment Full time

The Residential Marketing Manager leads the strategy and execution of marketing efforts for CEE's residential programs within the Efficient Technology Accelerator (ETA), while serving as a strategy liaison for CEE's other residential programs. The ETA program aims to usher new technologies to the market that save energy and carbon, identify market barriers and opportunities, and work to rapidly scale adoption of identified technologies to benefit all Minnesotans.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a breadth of creative marketing strategy development, as this role will define and guide B2C and B2B marketing strategies to help achieve ETA's program goals. The role includes identifying market research needs, leveraging market research in strategy development, a high degree of collaboration with program and marketing team staff, employing a wide array of marketing strategies, and leading processes to measure and constantly improve our marketing impact.

This position reports to CEE's head of marketing and may have direct reports in the future. This is a full-time position that provides a wide range of benefits including Paid Time Off (PTO), medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

CEE Background

CEE is a data-driven, consumer-focused, and community-based clean energy nonprofit with locations in the North Loop of Minneapolis and St. Paul's Midway. For nearly 40 years, CEE has collaborated with utilities, governments, nonprofits, and businesses to deliver actionable research and innovative programs that reduce energy waste and harmful emissions. We've established a national reputation for innovation and excellence in program implementation, our emerging technology and field research team, our involvement and expertise with local and state policy work, and our work with communities. We collaborate regularly with partners and employ curious people who share a passion for the organization's mission. Our workplace invites open door communications, respect for diverse backgrounds and points of view, and an emphasis on work-life balance. Our staff includes creative and pragmatic environmentalists, program developers and implementers, engineers and technical experts and research professionals. Our organizational culture is professional but easy-going, with a deep emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and technical expertise. We're proud to operate in Minnesota, a national leader in clean energy and energy efficiency, and increasingly employ staff across the nation.

CEE launched a statewide market transformation program, called ETA, in 2023, with committed and growing funding from the State of Minnesota and its utilities. This program accelerates the development and adoption of emerging energy efficiency technologies, bringing efficiency and electrification technologies and practices more rapidly to scale. CEE is building and expanding this dream team of talent to grow our market transformation program into a major new source of energy and carbon reduction in the state.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy development and marketing delivery to transform residential markets by rapidly scaling technologies that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Collaborate with program and marketing team to develop long term (5+year) and near term (annual) marketing strategies to spur early momentum in the market for assigned residential emerging technologies.
  • Gather information and insights on the technology, market, and customers of initiative technologies that currently include residential heat pumps and high-performance windows.
  • Provide marketing strategy insights to other team members working on residential marketing programs.
  • Partner with the commercial marketing team to cross pollinate strategies and marketing efforts.
  • Oversee marketing efforts from strategic concept to development, production, and analysis of results, providing direction to CEE's designer, web specialist, and other team partners.
  • Utilize market intelligence and industry trends to establish and improve viable marketing strategies for current and future programs and projects.
  • Partner with market actors outside CEE such as manufacturers and distributors as well as efficiency organizations such as utilities, local governments, and state governments to leverage and pool resources, align strategies, and accelerate public and private partnerships.
  • Use data analysis to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Lead strategy to improve SEO for program websites' development and maintenance.
  • Ensure brand consistency across initiatives and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years experience in similar role leading marketing strategies across numerous sectors and markets. Experience in consumer technology markets, working from the ground up on new initiatives or start-ups preferred.
  • Supervisory and project leadership experience required.
  • Proven track record of insightful, creative, and innovative marketing approaches to rapidly accelerate adoption of new consumer technologies.
  • Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders/subject matter experts to glean insights as well as form effective coalitions to advance shared market goals.
  • Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to manage, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
  • Preferred experience using Microsoft Office products; marketing automation and CRM tools such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, and Salesforce; Google Analytics 4 (GA4); Adobe Creative Cloud; and project management tools such as Asana.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties will also be considered.

Compensation - Depending upon qualification and experience, the salary range for this position is expected to be between $80-$85K.

Location - This position is hybrid and based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
