Position OverviewThis is a student position that requires excellent customer service skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and attention to detail. The position is responsible for general office duties and supporting Provost Office staff needs. Job DescriptionEmployee comfortable performing a variety of duties, multitasking and meeting deadlines.

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Greeting visitors in person or over the telephone.
  • General office tasks: mail, photocopying, scanning and stuffing envelopes.
  • Supporting staff with specific project tasks.
  • Creation of name tags, mailing labels and spreadsheet data entry.
  • Maintain workroom and front reception areas for cleanliness and supplies.
  • Running errands and supporting events across campus.
Required Qualifications
  1. Excellent customer service experience, as demonstrated by previous work history.
  2. Excellent written communication skills, as evidenced by the cover letter.
  3. Microsoft Office Suite skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Excellent verbal communication skills.
  2. Clerical/administrative support experience.
  3. Discretion during internal and external interaction.
  4. Knowledge of KU campus.
  5. Reliable and able to work at least two hours per shift.
  6. Availability to work over break periods and summer.
  7. Federal Financial Aid Work Study eligibility (contact Financial Aid).
