Job Description:

Accurately and efficiently overhauls/repairs, tests, assembles, and trouble shoots a variety of complex in‐ and out‐of‐production products. Works on products that contain mechanical, electronic, and dual hydraulic systems. Works with cross‐divisional product lines (pneumatic, fuel, hydraulic). Actively contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Routinely works independently in both assembly and test.

Responsibilities:

*Performs complex overhaul/repair, test, and assembly functions utilizing mechanical skills,

mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Adapts to varied conditions based on how products return from the field.
  • Reviews purchase orders to verify customer return goods and provides price quote estimates to Contracts.
  • Researches and evaluates product failures and serviceability levels independently.
  • Analyzes, determines, and recommends repair solutions, incorporating multiple variables, to return products to serviceable condition on majority of components.
  • Signs‐off that work is complete and that products are in serviceable condition for air flight.
  • Provides floor leadership in coordinating workload priorities.
  • Manages workflow in cells and makes appropriate accommodations based on business demand.
  • Sets up complex test equipment on the majority of products to measure and record valve or system conformance to test specifications.
  • Sets up test stands with appropriate plumbing for hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and cryogenic tests from required product test specifications.
  • Verifies accuracy of test stand and set‐up prior to testing and makes necessary adjustments to attain specific test results.
  • Trouble shoots at all levels and resolves set up problems independently.
  • Conducts tests using common and/or computerized data acquisition equipment (i.e. Labview), and interprets/records test results on data forms.
  • Uses X‐Y recorders, oscilloscopes, transducers, and other related equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and reworks malfunctions disclosed by test data independently.
  • Performs diagnostic teardown and rebuilding of product, including evaluation of suitability of components, according to customer specifications.
  • Produces and inspects assemblies that conform to product specifications.
  • Assembles, tests, and/or solders to customers and/or industry standards.
  • Responsible for the entire paperwork packaging of the unit.
  • Interprets blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements, and quality directives.
  • Works with Technical Publications on the writing and validation of technical instructions for Components Maintenance Manuals.
  • Actively leads lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
  • Routinely interfaces with support functions to solve product problems and conduct work according to business contract.
  • Performs investigations with engineering and/or government agencies on service related problems.
  • May perform machining operations related to product acceptance procedures (i.e. pre‐/re‐trim).
  • May travel to the customer to research, identify, and repair product failures.
  • Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule.
  • Conducts training and mentors less experienced team members.
  • Perform semi‐complex mathematical calculations
  • May perform other related responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Hydraulic and/or electrical background required.
  • Measurement conversion and fluids theory knowledge required for test applications.
  • Leakage, flow, friction, and pressure knowledge required.
  • Requires specialized certification specific to division requirements (i.e. FAA repair license, certified operator, soldering certification).
  • This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Able to work independently with no supervisory guidance.
  • Demonstrate a broad and comprehensive understanding of a varied complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or fuel products involving electronics, dual hydraulic systems, and multiple parts.
  • Possess extensive historical knowledge of product and process situations that are normally encountered.
  • Able to independently overhaul/repair, test, and assemble 90% of the assigned product line.
  • Able to research problems and develop solutions, incorporating multiple variables, to successfully repair products to serviceable condition without assistance. Works with products never touched before.
  • Able to set up test fixtures independently.
  • Able to adapt to procedures, techniques, and/or processes to meet special needs on varied assignments.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, route sheets, and test specifications.
  • Effective verbal, written, and moderate computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical reasoning.
  • Able to take a lead role in implementing lean initiatives.
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a team environment on research and solution development. * Possess excellent mentoring and training skills.
  • Able to interpret reports and use standard business software applications.

Responsabilidades:

  • Se adapta a diversas condiciones según cómo regresen los productos del campo.
  • Revisa las órdenes de compra para verificar los bienes devueltos por el cliente y proporciona estimaciones de precios a los contratistas.
  • Investiga y evalúa las fallas del producto y los niveles de capacidad de servicio de forma independiente. * Analiza, determina y recomienda soluciones de reparación, incorporando múltiples variables, para que los productos vuelvan a estar en condiciones de servicio en la mayoría de los componentes.
  • Aprueba que el trabajo está completo y que los productos están en condiciones de servicio para el vuelo aéreo.
  • Proporciona liderazgo en el piso para coordinar las prioridades de la carga de trabajo.
  • Administra el flujo de trabajo en las celdas y realiza las adaptaciones adecuadas según la demanda comercial.
  • Configura equipos de prueba complejos en la mayoría de los productos para medir y registrar la conformidad de la válvula o el sistema con las especificaciones de prueba.
  • Configura los bancos de prueba con la plomería adecuada para pruebas hidráulicas, neumáticas, de combustible y criogénicas según las especificaciones de prueba del producto requeridas.
  • Verifica la precisión del banco de prueba y la configuración antes de la prueba y realiza los ajustes necesarios para obtener resultados de prueba específicos.
  • Soluciona problemas en todos los niveles y resuelve los problemas de configuración de forma independiente.
  • Realiza pruebas utilizando equipos de adquisición de datos comunes y/o computarizados (es decir, Labview) e interpreta/registra los resultados de las pruebas en formularios de datos.
  • Utiliza grabadoras X-Y, osciloscopios, transductores y otros equipos relacionados.
  • Soluciona problemas y repara averías detectadas por los datos de prueba de forma independiente.
  • Realiza desmontajes diagnósticos y reconstrucción del producto, incluida la evaluación de la idoneidad de los componentes, de acuerdo con las especificaciones del cliente.
  • Produce e inspecciona conjuntos que cumplen con las especificaciones del producto.
  • Ensambla, prueba y/o suelda según los estándares del cliente y/o de la industria.

  • Interpreta planos, órdenes de ingeniería, rutas de ensamblaje, especificaciones de prueba, boletines de servicio, requisitos del cliente y directivas de calidad.
  • Trabaja con publicaciones técnicas en la redacción y validación de instrucciones técnicas para manuales de mantenimiento de componentes.
  • Lidera activamente iniciativas lean identificando y brindando sugerencias sobre áreas de mejora.
  • Interactúa de forma habitual con las funciones de soporte para resolver problemas del producto y realizar el trabajo de acuerdo con el contrato comercial.
  • Realiza investigaciones con agencias de ingeniería y/o gubernamentales sobre problemas relacionados con el servicio.
  • Puede realizar operaciones de mecanizado relacionadas con los procedimientos de aceptación del producto (es decir, preajuste/reajuste).
  • Puede viajar hasta el cliente para investigar, identificar y reparar fallas del producto.
  • Observa todas las reglas de seguridad y mantiene un área de trabajo libre de daños por objetos extraños (FOD).
  • Se asegura de que todo el equipo esté calibrado de acuerdo con el programa de calibración.

Educación y experiencia:

  • Se requieren conocimientos de fugas, flujo, fricción y presión.
  • Requiere certificación especializada específica para los requisitos de la división (es decir, licencia de reparación de la FAA, operador certificado, certificación de soldadura).
