Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engages in consult liaison services with Veterans on inpatient medicine and consults with facility physicians and staff regarding mental health care.
  • Provides screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders related to co-morbid medical conditions with an emphasis on the application of time-limited, evidence based approaches.
  • Provides screening for cognitive deficits to address specific functional questions or to determine if a referral for a complete neuropsychological evaluation or dementia assessment is needed.
  • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions delivered via group and individual psychotherapy modalities, face to face, and via telemedicine equipment.
  • Consults with program staff, nursing and physicians, concerning assessment findings and treatment plans for patients to teams assigned. This consultation is in the service of ensuring that care is coordinated, collaborative, and integrated within the provider team.
  • Uses measurement-based care in diagnostic decision making, treatment planning, and other decision making.
  • May be involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committee via presentation at Psychology Trainee or Service didactics.
  • May contribute to the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, or other mental health trainees, by teaching occasional lectures and seminars and providing limited supervision for clinical practicum experience.
  • Identifies and facilitates continuing education opportunities (with approval of supervisor) for staff members; establishes work groups to study evidence-based practices; fosters research and dissemination of results at major conferences; supports other staff members in grant submission or process of carrying out grant funded projects.
  • Assists the Team and/or Service Chief in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program.
  • Assists the Service Chief, Assistant Service Chief, and/or Administrative Officer in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers.
Work Schedule: Full-time, 8:00a-4:30p, Monday - Friday (flexible)
