JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Operator is responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks including some operational tasks. Involved in maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment within an assigned area. Provide operations support to rack and terminal operations for the location.


• Perform routine inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems, including but not limited to Pressure Control Devices (PCD's); filter changing; double block and bleed checks; valve, pump, VRU and rack maintenance; meter replacements; flange torqueing and unbolting; pipe threading; piping drain-ups.


• Complete and maintain required documentation/records associated with performed maintenance and repair.


• Perform monthly pigging operations on crude line and semi-annual on refined products line; lockout/tagout (LOTO) on assets; damage prevention tasks (line locates).


• Assist with location projects, including overhauls and new installations, or modifications of existing equipment.


• Assist Technicians and terminal and rack operators as needed.


• Perform other general maintenance and facility housekeeping responsibilities, including winterization of assets as directed.


• Heavy equipment operation - forklifts, vacuum truck


• Performs other duties as required by supervisor

Job Profile Summary

The Maintenance Operator role is responsible for all general maintenance, operational support, repairs and upkeep at the terminal facility. The level of complexity and responsibility increases with the job grade level. Follows instructions and utilizes standard practices and procedures to develop resolutions to problems of limited scope. Duties are typically repetitive or routine in nature and work is closely supervised. Assignments are provided with little reliance on self-direction. Contributions usually limited to assignment-related activities and require little no decision-making. Still acquiring an understanding of the technical aspects of the job skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • The Maintenance Operator is responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks including some operational tasks. These tasks will involve maintaining, installing, and repairing/operating equipment within an assigned area. Tasks include performing routine inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems, including but not limited to Pressure Control Devices (PCD's); filter changing; double block and bleed checks; valve, pump, VRU and rack maintenance; meter replacements; flange torqueing and unbolting; pipe threading; piping drain-ups and spec installation. Complete and maintain required documentation/records associated with performed maintenance and repair including lockout/tagout (LOTO). Ensures compliance with company policies and relevant federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., DOT, EPA, DEP, OSHA, and SIP) as they pertain to the operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Maintenance Operator performs general facility maintenance and upkeep including painting, general housekeeping, line specs, etc. Maintenance Operator position performs routine preventive maintenance and follows all safety requirements to prevent product contamination, spills, and avoid product loss. Materials receiving – take receipt of all materials received at the terminal, verify order is correct, notify person who placed the order of its arrival and disseminate materials as directed.
  • Equipment operation – Maintenance Operator will be required to operate facility equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, trucks, vacuum truck, air compressors, and generators.
  • Warehouse inventory – Organize and maintain warehouse supplies, ensure sensitive materials are properly secured, maintain special supplies and equipment as needed, including spill cleanup supplies and equipment.
  • Terminal fuels – gauges terminal gasoline and diesel tanks, balances fuel usage daily and checks tank inventory compared to fuel logbook. Orders fuels from selected and approved vendors.
  • Monitor Contractor performance and work closely with Contractors to ensure work is complete according to specification.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Education

  • H.S. Diploma required

Work Experience

  • 1 - 2 years related work experience
  • Previous experience in operations or tank farm maintenance role,
  • Knowledge of refined product characteristics, measurement and safe handling practices preferred
