The Global Business Alliance (GBA) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with at least ten years' worth of state government affairs experience to serve as its Vice President of State Government Affairs. The Vice President will oversee GBA's policy issues and promote awareness of foreign direct investment among state policymakers. In this role, the Vice President will engage directly with GBA members and represent the organization at external events and lobby in state capitals.

A successful candidate will have a strong interest and background in business association advocacy, policy development, direct lobbying, and building coalitions. This candidate should be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and writing skills, and capable of anticipating project needs and meeting deadlines with flawless work products in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Oversight and Development: Develop and implement strategies to address policy issues affecting the U.S. subsidiaries of international companies at the state level. Monitor and analyze state legislative and regulatory developments impacting international companies, such as tax, Buy America(n), and political participation. Advocacy and Lobbying: Advocate for GBA's policy positions to state legislators, regulatory agencies, and other policymakers. Build and maintain relationships with state government officials, legislators, and staff. Member Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for GBA members on state government affairs issues. Provide timely and accurate information to members regarding state legislative and regulatory developments. Organize and lead member meetings, briefings, and conference calls on state policy matters. External Representation: Represent GBA at external events, conferences, and meetings with state policymakers and other stakeholders. Deliver presentations and speeches to promote awareness of foreign direct investment and GBA's mission. Strategic Planning and Execution : Develop and execute comprehensive state government affairs strategies in alignment with GBA's overall goals. Anticipate and respond to emerging policy issues and trends that could impact GBA members. Communication and Writing: Draft policy briefs, position papers, testimony, and other advocacy materials. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to GBA members. Coalition Building: Build and lead coalitions of stakeholders to support GBA's policy objectives. Collaborate with other national and state-level business associations, industry groups, and advocacy organizations on common issues. Coordinate joint advocacy efforts and campaigns to amplify GBA's voice and influence. Leadership and Management: Supervise and mentor staff within the state government affairs and advocacy team. Manage budgets and resources allocated to state government affairs activities. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.

Qualifications:

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in state government affairs, public policy, or a related field. Proven track record of successful advocacy and lobbying at the state level. Strong interest and background in business association advocacy and policy development, as well as familiarity with the political and economic landscape affecting international companies operating in the United States. Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, business, or a related field. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legislative and regulatory issues. Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive advocacy materials. Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build consensus. High level of integrity and professionalism in representing GBA and its members. Willingness to travel frequently to state capitals and other locations as needed (travel is approximately 20 percent) Flexibility to work extended hours during legislative sessions and critical advocacy periods.
