Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Cardiovascular Surgery team in the Operating Room. The Cardiac PA-C will work collaboratively with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic surgical team and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist cardiothoracic surgeons during surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair/replacement, and other complex cardiac surgeries.
  • Perform preoperative assessments, including history and physical examinations, and obtain informed consent from patients.
  • Participate in intraoperative management, including exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, and suturing.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status during surgery and respond to any changes promptly.
  • Assist with postoperative care, including wound management, pain management, and patient education.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Physician Assistant in a surgical setting, preferably in cardiac surgery or a related field.
  • Proficiency in surgical techniques and perioperative patient care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
