This is essential for ensuring accurate reimbursement, supporting research initiatives, and maintaining compliance with both federal and state regulations, as well as guidelines from other relevant organizations, by applying established coding standards and methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background and Experience: Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. An Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related discipline from an accredited two-year institution, or a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year university in Health Information Management or a similar field is preferred. Alternatively, candidates may hold a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. A minimum of one year of coding experience in an acute care setting is required.
