Duties are but not limited to: The NM demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

The NM, in collaboration with the Education Department, develops, coordinates, and provides ongoing education to nursing personnel for knowledge and skills enhancement while ensuring clinical competence.

The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring appropriate resource utilization and staffing and skill mix for the unit.

Additionally, the NM ensures systems are in place to promote patient and staff safety and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The NM responsible for maintaining a therapeutic milieu for patients that promotes mental and physical wellness and fosters disease prevention/condition management.

The NM works professionally and collaboratively, with the Associate Chief Nurse of Mental Health and others to advance unit and organizational needs respective of facility, VISN and national strategic plans.

The NM demonstrates skills and knowledge of a wide variety of Psychiatric/Behavioral Health theories, modalities, assessments, planning, and interventions.

The NM oversees care for a range of psychiatric diagnoses and serves Veterans that may exhibit behavioral symptoms such as aggression, combativeness, severe depression, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, hallucinations, paranoia, and/or multiple medical problems.

The NM considers all characteristics of the individual, including sex and role identification, age, life stage, state of health, race, culture, socio-economic status, values, and beliefs to assist each patient with the improvement of their health status to the maximum potential.

The NM utilizes core elements of performance improvement processes.


Additionally, the NM is responsible for administrative and clinical issues, performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient, and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.

The NM actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians throughout the facility, Education Department, and other staff.

The NM evaluates quality indicators of performance and implements intervention, policy, and strategies for improvement.

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Full-time; 80 hrs Tour subject to change depending on the needs of facility. May require occasional weekends and holidays.
