What You'll Do

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol - Information Technology/Law Enforcement Automated Data System

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Days and hours would vary between Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm depending on student's schedule.

This is an ongoing internship located in Columbus, OH. The selected candidate will ideally be able to work throughout the school year and summer, for an average of 20 hours per week or less (with flexibility during the school semesters given class schedule and course load).

The pay rate for a college intern is based upon the students' academic status:

Undergraduate student rate of pay - $16.93 per hour

Graduate student rate of pay - $20.59 per hour

Major/field of study should be in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity

Job duties
  • Perform fundamental tasks using a limited/basic understanding of high-level network security
  • Read and respond to emails
  • Review current IT and Security policies
  • Assist with Technical Security Audits
  • Research new security products and strategies
  • Develop quality assurance procedures
  • Test, troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing applications
  • Participate in requirements analysis, gather and evaluate user feedback

To be eligible for an internship opportunity at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, an applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.
  • Be in good standing with the college/university.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  • Be enrolled in at least one course.
  • Be pursuing a degree or finishing a degree.
