About the Position

Georgetown Day School, an independent, co-ed day school in Washington, D.C., seeks a full-time Middle School Math teacher for the school year. Primary responsibilities include teaching four sections of math and serving as an advisor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math and the ability to teach through Algebra 2. Deep knowledge of one's subject, enthusiasm for teaching middle schoolers, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues are the hallmarks of the GDS MS faculty. Duties and Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math and the ability to teach through Algebra 2
  • Deep knowledge of one's subject, enthusiasm for teaching middle schoolers, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues are the hallmarks of the GDS Middle School faculty

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serves as a middle school advisor, supporting the academic and social well-being of a small group of students and stewards the family/school partnership
  • Additional meetings and responsibilities beyond school hours, as needed
  • Duties as assigned
  • Attends grade-level trips as assigned
  • Candidates for this position may also be considered in our search for a Middle School Math Department Chair, if desired.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in middle or high school education and experience teaching mathematics
  • A Master's degree is preferred
  • Significant experience working with early adolescents
