Development Manager, Machine Learning Integration, IRIS Data Platform – Cambridge, MA Position Overview

The Machine Learning team is responsible for integrating modern ML/AI components into our core database architecture. Providing ML/AI expertise, examples and evangelize ML/AI use throughout to other departments within the company. Our focus is on ensuring flexible integration into the IRIS platform, making ML technology easily accessible to customers, rather than on creating customized data science solutions. In this management role, you will play a key part in contributing to the InterSystems IRIS data platform.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking a highly technical manager who can lead a team in translating innovative research into production-ready code that aligns with our architecture.

This position is located at the InterSystems headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

This manager will have the responsibility of overseeing the productivity of a small team of developers. They will allocate 40-60% of their time to making code changes, participating in code review sessions, and engaging in design/architecture discussions. Additionally, they will maintain documentation outlining the architecture of their specific area of responsibility. It will be their duty to ensure that all product changes made by their team adhere to the expected development workflow, which includes the utilization of source control, conducting code reviews, and providing clear documentation. Furthermore, they will be responsible for triaging issues reported by both field and internal users.

The manager will bring their own expertise and experience in the marketplace to provide input into how ML/AI can be integrated into the product.

This role necessitates close collaboration with Quality Development, as well as other development teams and shared services such as Release Engineering, Learning Services, and Documentation.

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical team lead or technical manager
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for transforming our data platform to enable ML/AI use cases
  • Expertise in ML/AI research
  • Expertise in database architecture
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in driving timely results
  • Able to balance competing pressures and priorities
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL, Python
  • College degree in a technical field like Engineering or Computer Science
