GRRL HAUS CINEMA is a non-profit film festival, screening series, and collective dedicated to promoting the works of women, trans, and non-binary filmmakers in the realms of experimental, low-budget, and underground cinema.


Our emphasis on low budget and DIY culture creates a space for underrepresented voices in cinema to be heard by promoting creativity and diversity of expression through film.


Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Intern to join our Massachusetts team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in amplifying our non-profits presence across various social media platforms and driving audience


As Social Media Marketing Intern, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as social media content creation, digital marketing, and communication on all our social platforms. We offer valuable hands-on experience in social media marketing in the film industry, networking opportunities, and working with non-profits.


Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing social media strategies to promote festival events, screenings, and initiatives.
  • Creating engaging content that highlights the works of women, trans, and non-binary filmmakers while promoting our mission of inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Monitoring social media channels, responding to inquiries, and fostering meaningful interactions with our online community.
  • Collaborating with our team to coordinate promotional campaigns and initiatives.


Position Details

  • Duration: Starting in late August 2024 - mid December 2024
  • Time Commitment: Flexible hours, between 10-20 hours a week
  • Location: Remote/Hybrid (with occasional in-person meetings/events)
  • Compensation: College credits. This is an unpaid internship.


College credit may be available for this internship opportunity. We are able to work with selected candidates and their Massachusetts-based academic institutions to facilitate the process of earning college credit for their internship experience.


What we are looking for

  • Strong passion for film, queer studies, DIY filmmaking, experimental cinema, feminism and promoting underrepresented voices.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, FB, Discord, X, etc.) and social media management tools (Buffer, Meta)
  • Based in Massachusetts and 18+. We will have in person meetings, and you must be able to attend our Cambridge screenings.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere), Canva
  • Proficiency in shooting and editing creative, short videos utilizing mobile applications.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative ideas for content and engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience in social media management, marketing, or related fields is a plus, but not required.
